Over the years, we have tried just about every type of material to make a true ‘Tropics’ shirt, which will keep you cool, look smart and be easy to wash and dry on an extended fishing trip. They all have their shortfalls; 100% synthetic “technical fabrics” might keep you cool in windy conditions on the flats, but anywhere else, they are like wearing a bin-bag. 100% cotton may keep you cool, but it absorbs, rather than wicking perspiration away and looks scruffy within half a day. What the seasoned travel angler needs is a shirt which keeps you cool, retains its smart appearance and can be washed in the shower at the end of a long, hot day, hung up to dry overnight and put back on in the morning, still looking good.
